What's my secret? Simple, it's a lifestyle change, not a 10 day cleanse or any stupid diet like that. I completely changed what I was eating and I started to pay attention to what I had been doing compared to what I do know. I substitute greek yogurt for my ice cream, little things like that! Also, get off the couch, a one hour workout is only 4% of your day, think of it that way!

Find a place you're comfortable at to workout in, I have had a gym memberships and I never went, I hated it and felt like I was being judged, but now, I've found Kosama where I feel comfortable and I have friends there. Working out is better when you have a support system!
I'm only down 80lbs since March, and I say only because I'm not done yet! I want to lose more than 100 and there's so much I want to accomplish fitness-wise for example, next year, I want to run the twin cities 10-mile and I AM GOING TO DO IT!
Set goals for yourself and see what you can do!

I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life.  When I was younger I’d been labeled as “big boned” and was told that it was ok.  I have always participated in sports like softball, volleyball and golf, and have considered myself athletic.  However, in 2012 I had reached a low point in my life and was at the highest weight I had ever been at 211 pounds.  My self-esteem was horrible, I wore baggy clothes that hid my body and I did everything I could to avoid being photographed. When I was winded just from walking up the 15 steps in my home I knew I had to do something.  In the fall of 2012, Groupon advertised a special for Kosama and my husband encouraged me to give it a try.  I considered it and figured, why not?  What do I have to lose by at least trying? I set a firm date for myself and had decided that October 1st was THE day that I was going to begin a life change.  After the first day of class I was sold.  I jumped in feet first and purchased the heart monitor, yoga mat and set up a full membership to Kosama and Snap Fitness.  I also began a nutrition program which included limiting myself to 1200 calories a day.  The instructors are extremely motivating and supportive and have provided educational information surrounding my food choices. Additionally, I have never felt like I was being judged or looked down on by any of the other members.  At my first assessment in January 2013 I had lost 20 pounds and was already feeling better about myself.  At my last assessment I was down to 154 pounds…only 4 pounds away from my goal of 150.  It’s been quite a journey and I have a lot of people to thank for all of the encouragement and support that’s been provided. For me it’s not all about the weight loss…It’s about living a healthier life, not feeling like I have limits, and being happier about who I am.  Kosama has become more than just a place to go and workout.  It is a circle of support and a community of friends who all have similar goals.
